LIMINAL

Joshua Tree
May 19th-23rd, 2027

An intimate sound meditation retreat in the high desert of Joshua Tree.

Where sound travels without end, the silence so profound and the desert so boundless that something deep within you recalibrates, suspended beautifully between what was and what's next.

This is what liminal feels like.

You are invited.

This is not a retreat for everyone. It is for the person who has been moving too fast for too long. The one who knows something needs to shift but hasn't yet found the space to let it. The one who is standing, knowingly or not, at the edge of a new chapter.

For five days, four nights in May 2027, a small and intentional group will gather at a private villa in the high desert of Joshua Tree. We will eat together, rest together, and go deep together, held by daily sound meditation, the extraordinary acoustics of the desert, and the kind of stillness that is becoming increasingly rare in modern life.

Every meal will be prepared by a private chef. Every sound bath will be led personally by Lindsey Kraten. And one evening we will gather for a private sound bath at the Integratron, one of the most acoustically extraordinary spaces in the world, exclusively reserved for our group.

This is an intimate retreat. No strangers by the end of the first night.

If you feel called, trust that.

Liminal means the in-between, the sacred pause between what was and what's next. By the end of these four nights you will know what that feels like in your body. Rested. Nourished. Lighter. Returned to yourself.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Everything has been considered so you don't have to think about anything except being here.

Sound & Practice
Four evenings of daily sound meditation led personally by Lindsey Kraten — crystal bowls, gongs, and an array of resonant instruments woven into each session. One private evening sound bath at the Integratron, exclusively reserved for our group. Daily morning yoga with Lindsey (plus maybe a special guest teacher one morning) to gently wake the body and prepare for the day.

We will have an on-site massage therapist available for booking massages throughout our time together.

Nourishment
All meals prepared by our private chef using fresh, organic, and seasonal ingredients. Breakfast, early morning/afternoon snacks, and dinner, thoughtfully crafted to nourish the body and complement the retreat experience. Coffee and tea bar will be available all day. Dietary needs accommodated with advance notice.

The Space
Exclusive use of Gaia Villa — a private desert property in Joshua Tree with spacious indoor and outdoor gathering areas, a hot tub, covered porches to watch the sunrise/sunset, saltwater pool, BBQ outdoor kitchen, and some of the darkest skies in California for stargazing.

The Details
Five days, four nights accommodation in your chosen room. Thoughtfully-crafted welcome gift upon arrival. A morning packing list and pre-retreat guide sent in advance so you arrive prepared and unhurried.

Not Included
Flights, rental cars or transportation to/from Joshua Tree · Personal massage treatments · Additional food or beverages beyond what's included · Gratuities for chef

*I recommend renting a car from the airport, or taking a road trip out to Joshua Tree so you have the freedom to explore the surrounding areas and the national park at your own leisure. There is so much to explore!

I chose this moment, the transition from spring into summer, because it mirrors the work we'll do together. The time and space to turn inward is rare. And it is in that turning, in the reflection, the rest, the stillness, that the threshold becomes clear. What you're leaving behind. What you're moving toward. What's waiting on the other side.

THE EXPERIENCE

pexels-thomas-parker-1272388137-24246578.jpg

The days here have a heartbeat. Movement at dawn. Silence on the trail. Sound at dusk. And in between, space. Real space. The kind you've been looking for.

Arrival
You arrive and the desert does its work immediately. The air is different. The quiet is different. There is nothing competing for your attention. We gather for a welcome sound meditation as the sun sets, your first exhale of the retreat, followed by dinner around the table where the conversations that matter start happening naturally.

The Mornings
Each morning opens with intuitive movement- a gentle, embodied practice designed to wake the body without forcing it. No experience required. No performance expected. Just you and your body finding their way into the day together.

One morning we lace up our shoes and walk together in silence into Joshua Tree National Park, one of the most visually extraordinary landscapes in the United States, letting the desert do what it does best before a single word is spoken.

The Afternoons
Yours. Completely. Rest by the hot tub. Journal on the covered porch. Take a dip in the saltwater pool. Indulge in a massage with our on-site massage therapist. Sit with the Joshua trees and let your mind wander. Sleep. The afternoon is not programmed, because integration needs space and time in stillness.

The Evenings
As the desert cools and the sky begins to shift, we gather for dinner, a meal prepared by our private chef using fresh seasonal & organic ingredients. And then the day closes the way it was always meant to close, in sound. Each evening ends with a live sound bath led by Lindsey, crystal bowls and gongs carrying you into the deepest rest of your night. Take a dip in the jacuzzi for some star-gazing as a nightcap before slipping off to bed for the night.

The Integratron
One evening we leave the villa together and drive into the desert to the Integratron, a one-of-a-kind wooden dome built on a powerful geomagnetic vortex outside Joshua Tree. The space has been privately reserved for our group alone. We will experience a sound bath inside the dome's extraordinary acoustics, something that is genuinely unlike anything else available in the world of sound meditation. You will feel it in your body for days afterward.

The Last Morning
The final morning is intentionally slow. Packing. Breakfast together. Time to integrate before the world comes back in.

Departure
You leave different. Not dramatically, quietly. The kind of different that takes a few days to fully notice as you integrate back into your daily rhythm of life.

YOUR FREE TIME

The afternoons are yours and Joshua Tree has a way of filling them beautifully without trying. Here are some ways guests choose to spend them, though doing nothing at all is equally encouraged.

On-Site
On-site massage therapy is available to book in advance, a deeply restorative addition to the sound meditations and highly recommended. Walk the on-site labyrinth as a moving meditation, one of the most ancient contemplative practices in the world, and one that lands differently in the desert than anywhere else. The hot tub, outdoor swings, covered porches, pool and expansive desert backyard are yours to wander freely.

In the Park
Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the villa, with trails ranging from beginner to expert, each one offering something remarkable. Black Rock Canyon is just a 5 minute drive and offers an alternate entrance to the park with beautiful hiking trails. The park's rock formations and vast desert landscape are worth losing an afternoon in.

In the Area
Pioneertown — built in 1946 as a living, breathing movie set — is a short drive away and one of the most unexpected and charming stops in the entire desert region. Worth an afternoon wander.

The town of Joshua Tree itself has a quietly thriving arts scene — independent galleries, vintage shops, and a handful of genuinely excellent cafés and restaurants within a 10 minute drive.

A Note
I encourage guests to resist the urge to fill every hour. Some of the most significant moments of a retreat happen in the unplanned ones, sitting with a journal, watching the light change over the desert, or simply lying still and noticing what comes up when there's nowhere to be.

MEET YOUR HOST

Lindsey Kraten is a sound meditation practitioner, yoga instructor, and private holistic chef whose work lives at the intersection of healing, nourishment, and intentional experience. With almost two decades in hospitality and wellness she brings the same quality of presence to every element of a retreat — from the food on the table to the sound in the room.

Sound meditation found Lindsey at a pivotal moment in her own life, and she has been sharing its gifts ever since. She works with crystal bowls, gongs, and a wide array of resonant instruments — guiding sessions that are intuitive, embodied, and rooted in the belief that sound is one of the most direct pathways to the nervous system.

Her intention in bringing a group to Joshua Tree is deeply personal. Years ago she found herself in the desert for the first time and experienced something she has never quite been able to put into words, a stillness so profound it recalibrated something deep within her. It is that experience she has been waiting to share ever since.

LIMINAL is that moment. Finally here.

ACCOMODATIONS

FAQ

Do I need prior experience with sound meditation, or yoga/movement?
Not at all. LIMINAL is designed to be accessible to everyone regardless of experience. All you need to bring is an open heart and a willingness to slow down. The rest is taken care of.
Can I come solo?
Absolutely, and many guests do. Solo travelers are warmly welcomed and you will not feel alone. This is one of the most intimate retreat experiences available and connections form naturally and quickly. You will not be a stranger for long.
What is the nearest airport?
Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) is the closest — approximately 45 minutes from Joshua Tree. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is about 2.5 hours. I recommend renting a car (or taking a road trip from where you are based) as Joshua Tree is best explored with your own transportation.
Is this retreat right for me?
LIMINAL is for the person who has been moving too fast for too long and knows something needs to shift. It is not a party retreat, a yoga intensive, or a high-programming schedule. It is four intentional nights of sound, stillness, nourishment, and genuine community. If that sounds like exactly what you need, it probably is.

How do I reserve my spot?
Select your preferred room on the booking page and complete your registration. A non-refundable deposit of $600 is required to hold your spot. Your balance is due by March 1, 2027.

Can I pay in full?
Yes, you are welcome to pay your room rate in full at the time of booking or leave the $600 deposit with the balance due March 1, 2027. Whichever works best for you.

What is the cancellation policy? (Please read carefully)
All retreat payments, including the non-refundable deposit and subsequent payments, are non-refundable and non-transferable. If Lindsey cancels the retreat for any reason all payments including deposits will be refunded in full.
Your Payment reserves your individual spot on the retreat and allows me to plan in advance, including accommodations, food, activities, and other retreat offerings. Due to the intimate setting of this retreat and the limited number of spaces, I am unable to offer any refunds or credits for any reason, including illness, travel delays, or unforeseen circumstances.
Please keep in mind that when you book, I am holding a space specifically for you, which means I will be making commitments on your behalf. If you need to cancel your payment will be forfeited, as it is unlikely that I will be able to fill your spot, or recoup the costs associated with your reservation. I strongly recommend travel insurance to protect your investment & for your peace of mind.
